More Commercial Outlines

In a recent post, I discussed my suggestions for the two most useful commercial outlines/hornbooks/study guides for law school classes.

Here, I complete that list...

3. Understanding Criminal Procedure (also check out the Casenotes/Legal Briefs for this class--it's the only casenotes worth buying).
4. Chemerinsky's Federal Jurisdiction (this is the sister to his Con Law Hornbook)
5. Emanuel's Constitutional Law--extremely comprehensive, very good if you're simply lost and can't find your way.
6. Understanding Evidence (also check out the Examples & Explanations, which is useful, if a little cursory)
7. American Indian Law Nutshell--if you take anything like Native American Law, this is a must-buy. Written by a Senior Ninth Circuit Judge, it's the cheapest thing you'll find, and functions more like a treatise than a nutshell.
8. Admin Law, Examples & Explantions--you may actually enjoy this class if you know what's going on.
9. Legal Ethics Nutshell (be sure to get Legal Ethics, not Professional Responsibility)--extremely concise summary of each rule of the MRPC.
10. Con Law Structural Issues Examples & Explanations--if you take a class that demands you know the dormant commerce clause, I would purchase this study-guide.

Worst/Most Useless:
5. Casenotes Legal Briefs for Legislation--the class isn't about the rules of law, but the process. So this is pretty much just purchasing pieces of scratch paper.
4. Federal Jurisdiction/Courts Nutshell--old old old.
3. Criminal Procedure Nutshell--unclear and unhelpful.
2. Professional Responsibility Nutshell--not about the MPRC whatsoever.
1. Emanuele's Administrative Law--maybe for some books, this would be helpful. But it was a nightmare for my class.

How much money did I spend on commercial outlines? Quite a bit probably.

I've found these two to be completely unhelpful and I would like to add to your worst / least useful study guides:

7. Allure February 2005: Superior Hair Issue

6. Wire to Wire: Inside the 1984 Detroit Tigers Championship Season

Yep, I second that motion on the PR Nutshell. Waste!!

I think they've retooled it into "Legal Ethics" now.

The Emanuel's Admin Law was not any good for my Admin Law class either. It had what appeared to be a lot of good stuff in it, but not of it applied to my class.

correction: "none" and not "not"
